Fresh-Blooded Principles in Wicked

Wicked is known for its multiple reuses of cast members and it's really annoying me (I've ranted about this on Twitter to no end) and I figured why not take a look at just how recently there has been fresh blooded character in each of the current productions of Wicked (Minus the 2nd UK Tour because there has been no cast change yet.*) Now, my definition of a fresh-blooded principle is one that has never been in any production before and has not been the understudy or the standby prior to being a principle. I've listed the dates that they have been in the show and that includes any vacations or medical leaves.

I find it strange how the West End along with the 2nd US Tour are the only companies that currently have fresh-blooded principles. Maybe it's just because I'm weird, but that really bothers me. ESPECIALLY the fact that it has been over 4 years since Broadway or the West End have had a fresh-blooded Elphaba! If the next cast changes coming up do not have some fresh blooded people I will scream!

*The 2nd UK Tour opened November 2017 and still features the original cast of that tour. However, a majority of its principal cast was transferred over from the international tour or from the previous UK Tour. The only fresh blooded principles were Aaron Sidwell as Fiyero and Amy Ross as Elphaba. (Whom I love!)

My Two Show Day

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've done a more personal post and I'm sorry, but college is keeping this theatre kid busy. However, tomorrow is a busy theatre day for me because I'm going to see two different shows! I plan on seeing The Bluest Eye at Arden Theatre Company at 2pm and then after that, I'm going to see Noises Off at Walnut Street Theatre and I absolutely can not wait! I am currently working on my next post which is my (somewhat) annual Tony Awards Predictions series and the first part will be hosted the night before the Tony Award nominations (Nominations are announced May 1st.) I also have a few more tricks up my sleeve that may take place this summer and I'll let you guys know what happens!

Something's Coming: Angels in America

Synopsis: Set in 1985, the film revolves around six New Yorkers whose lives intersect. At its core, it is the fantastical story of Prior Walter (Andrew Garfield), a gay man living with AIDS who is visited by an angel (Amanda Lawrence*).

Why I'm Excited: My college did Part 1 earlier this year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm really excited for this production because it's directed by one of my favorite directors, Marianne Elliott, whose directed War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and she is absolutely the bee's knees. Also, Nathan Lane is an amazing actor and he definitely is in the running for the Tony.
