Sherie Rene Scott is an American actress, writer and singer. Scott was born in Kentucky and later moved to Topeka, Kansas. She moved to NYC at the age of 18 to attend Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. (Famous Alumni include Allison Janney, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Dylan McDermott) Upon graduating Scott starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming Out of Their Shells Tour. Which was the Pokemon Live! of the 90's. Scott made her Broadway debut in The Who's Tommy (Credited as Sherie Scott) where she originated the role of Sally Simpson. Scott later replaced Amanda Watkins as
Marty in the 1994 Broadway Revival of Grease and later replaced Idina Menzel

as Maureen Johnson in the original Broadway production of Rent
 (Credited as Sherie Scott). Scott came into the spotlight until her starring role as Amneris in the original Broadway production of Aida (Alongside Heather Headley and Adam Pascal.) Scott was with this project at the very beginning. Scott was at the very first reading and continued on with both out-of-town tryouts. For her portrayal of Amneris Scott was awarded the Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Female. Scott's success continued when she originated the role of Cathy in the original Off-Broadway production of The Last Five Years also starring Norbert Leo Butz. For her role as Cathy Scott was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical. It was around this time that Scott met her husband Kurt Deutsch. Deutsch and Scott created the 3 time Grammy Award winning record company Sh-K Boom Records. They created this company with a single mission, they want to bridge the gap between pop music and theatre. They later created Ghostlight Records whose goal was to preserve traditional musical theatre. Both companies have released over 150 albums. Scott was apart of several workshops for a musical called Feeling Electric (Which would later become Next to Normal) she portrayed the role of Diana. Scott later

appeared in her first Tony Nominated role as 
Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Reconnecting her with Norbert Leo Butz) she received critical acclaim for this role. She later originated the role of Ursula in The Little Mermaid (Alongside Sierra Boggess and Norm Lewis) in both the out-of-town tryout and the Broadway production. After The Little Mermaid Scott started to do small concert's one titled You May Now Worship Me which evolved into her critically acclaimed show Everyday Rapture. For which she received two Tony nods one for Best Actress and the other for Best Book of a Musical. Scott later appeared in the cult musical (At least what I consider a cult musical) Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown where she originated the role of Pepa. On the Verge also starred Broadway favorites such as Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti (Who both received Tony nods for the roles.) Scott's most recent stage work was at 54 Below where she presented her new work A Piece of MeatScott was one of the producers of the film adaption of The Last Five Years as well as one of the driving forces of making the movie happen. Scott has already slated her next Broadway return which will be in a revival of The Front Page (Also starring Nathan Lane) Previews for The Front Page begin September 20, 2016 at the Broadhurst Theatre and will officially open on October 20, 2016. The show is only scheduled for a limited engagement and is scheduled to end February 5, 2017.
